Aloha Las Vegas
What happens when a hairstylist, Hawaiian natives and old-school business thinking collide? International beauty press found out at the renowned Las Vegas ARCS Mandalay Bay salon for the launch of Paul Mitchell’s luxurious Awapuhi range. And they couldn’t have picked a better time to do it, as the brand celebrated its 30th birthday at its annual Paul Mitchell Gathering extravaganza!
We were introduced to the sulphate-free Keratriplex line of eight products by John Paul DeJoria himself and legendary salon owner Robert Cromeans. They told the story of how Hawaiian natives won them over with their knowledge of the fragrant juice of the Awapuhi ginger plant, which both moisturises skin and hair. It was then, nearly 30 years ago, John Paul and Paul Mitchell established a sustainable, solar-powered Awapuhi farm in Hawaii, and today have combined the plant’s goodness with proteins from sheep’s wool using unique extraction techniques.
The result? A revolutionary and natural product line used to gently hydrate and restore hair at the backwash and in the styling chair. The line-up includes the Keratin Intensive Treatment, which reduces breakage by up to 80 per cent, and a great Styling Treatment Oil that left our hair super soft. We don’t doubt the Awapuhi range will go down a storm when it’s launched to UK salons in October!
We left with… a gorgeously packaged take-home range that stayed securely close in our hand luggage back to London, that’s how much we love it!
We adored… the out-of-this-world treatment we received at the backwash, which started with a mind-blowing shoulder, neck and head massage and finished with a sensational hand massage that left us wanting more!
We can’t stop talking about… what a great idea it is to have the hairdryers hanging from the ceiling and the unbelievably talented and uber-cool team at ARCS Mandalay Bay salon.
