Stylists, beauty press and fashionistas flocked down to London members’ club, One Alfred Place, for an electric Coterie gathering. And how could you not want to be part of that crowd, with guest speakers including award-winning fashion blogger Dan Hasby-Oliver, CoolBrands chairman Stephen Cheliotis and Percy & Reed creative director Adam Reed interviewing star session stylist Anna Cofone.Dan set the tone for the evening, talking about the importance of social media, his widly popular blog Last Style of Defense, regular tweeting and what we can expect from the S/S11 shows. Brand guru Stephen Cheliotis followed with an energetic discussion on why brands matter, what constitutes a “cool brand” and the six factors to building a strong identity including style , innovation, being unique, being desirable, originality and authenticity.
But it was Adam Reed’s interview with session sweetheart Anna Cofone that captured the crowd’s hearts, as she gave an honest view into her wonderful world of assisting session legends Eugene Souleiman and Sam McKnight. From the hairiest moments backstage at Milan Fashion Week to the insight of a season’s trends being influenced by the story behind a collection, we were all enthralled. It was truly a refreshing industry event, and there’s plenty more excitement promised at the next Coterie meeting, with guest speaker Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, Toni&Guy’s global creative director – so watch this space!
We nibbled on… decadent canapes of chips garnished with caviar and creme fraiche and goat’s cheese risotto on parmesan crips while sipping on cooling elderflower spritzers.
We left with… gorgeous goody bags with samples of the new Kerastase Homme Capital Force shampoo range.
