The Trend Edit

If, like us, you’re buzzing with excitement at the start of London Fashion Week today, here’s a taster of the trends we’re expecting to see on the A/W 10 catwalk collections, as predicted by WGSN and Drapers magazine at Pure London.
The first of the three key trends is Useful – ie, expertly designed. Think modern tuxedo jackets and classic city shirts with a hint of nostalgia. Colour-wise, expect bold and strong cobalt blue and raspberry-red hues, along with ice mint and almond mixed into neutral shades. The playful trend to hit next season is Inventive – blending tough with feminine, pushing details to new levels and eclectic casual wear. Work lace and embroidery with soft-wash leather biker jackets and finish with encapsulated jewellery. The last of the three is Rustic – hard-wearing historic styles labelled ‘emotive’ for a reason. Expect peasant-inspired dresses combined with rebellious rock-attitude boots and exaggerated heirloom jewels. In the colour zone think charcoal greys and metallic mixed with chalky whites for a contemporary fashion feel.
Bring it on!
