Beauty and the brains

Inspirational speakers, top hairdressing business brands and fabulously fashionable salon owners – we learned how to slick it up a notch this month with over 100 ideas-hungry delegates at SALON SMART.
Creative HEAD’s unique business networking event this time landed on Edinburgh’s infamous Royal Mile no less, and was packed with seriously hot names. Presenters, including US business expert, Jeff Saylor (who flew in from LA especially for the event), PR pro Harriet Evans, and retail guru Jon MacLeod took to the stage, while the likes of Alan Edwards and Joshua, Jason, and India Miller could be spotted in the audience, soaking up some seriously good business sense in style.
We loved Charles and Karen Dodds’ finale session – an honest insight into their 23-year-long journey to the top. Owners of award-winning salon group, Cutting Room Creative, the Dodds have recently opened a stunning 5,000 sq ft super salon in the heart of Leeds – made truly beautiful by interior designer Charlie Hearn, who was on hand on the day to share his amazing design secrets! Now that’s what we call cutting edge business inspiration. So much so, we’ve already got our places booked for the next two-day event in London next April!
If you’ve got it flaunt it… Social networking is big business (with even bigger business benefits!). Time to get that Facebook fan page fully loaded!
Accessorize! Accessorize! Accessorize! We love this hot tip from Harriet Evans on giving your salon a seasonal refresh. Simply update your soft furnishings (cushions, candles, flowers…) – even your stylists’ uniform (nail polish, cute cardigans, bangles…) – with la couleur de la saison, and you’ll scream ‘we’re in fashion’!
In the navy… Here’s a savvy quote to go with your sexy sailor jacket. Shared by Nick Wood, UK managing director of Goldwell and KMS – SALON SMART’s headline sponsor – in his message about building a strong team: “If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people together to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the sea.” Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Amazing! How often are you updating the-coterie.net?
